HAND CARVED STONE FIREPLACE MANTELS, SCULPTURE & ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTSAward winning stone sculptor Dan Sinclair and DMS Studios offers the discerning client custom stone carvings, hand carved and designed in the classical tradition. DMS Studios was established in 1979 when Daniel Sinclair returned from Italy after spending ten years studying the art of stone carving with the world's greatest masters of the craft. The purpose of such study is to empower the stone sculptor to produce custom work which will stand the test of time, inspiring and delighting generations yet to come. We produce impeccably conceived hand carved stone sculpture and fireplaces mantels in the living tradition of the stone carvers of 17 th and 18 th century. In the United States, there is no better recognized practitioner of this lineage than DMS Studios in New York City. Our work has gone into some of the best known buildings in the country.
Custom Work in the Classical TraditionToday, our principal work is the production of custom hand carved stone fireplace mantels, statuary and architectural elements. Since all of our stone fireplace mantels are custom made, there are no limitations whatever in terms of dimensions, materials or design elements. Marble or limestone can be fabricated to designs submitted to us by architects and designers. We can furnish exact reproductions of existing historic fireplace mantels or work from photographs or even antique fragments. Because we maintain one of the most extensive design archives of historic fireplace mantels in North America, clients can rely on us to produce a design that will complement their existing interiors, whether traditional or modern. Unlike salvaged historic or ready made elements, our work will always fit your project, rather than you having to make your project fit the work. Proud to be the Choice of Stone Industry ProfessionalsWe partner with homeowners, contractors, architects and interior designers from across the US, but there is another category of client in which we take special pride. A significant portion of our work is direct from the stone industry, from professional stone fabricators who engage us to produce individual works in stone as part of their larger projects. Their confidence in us, we believe, demonstrates our professionalism and the proven value that the traditional artisan process adds to the work. A Drawing, a Photo, a Fragment - or just an Idea...DMS Studios is your design partner. We are fully qualified to supply all the necessary drawings and models required for the execution of the most complex custom stone sculpture. As noted above, we can also work from your own detailed architectural drawings, from sketches, photos or from existing historical work. Or we can begin our design from just an idea. Call, or visit our studio in New York City, and tell us about your project. Let us bring it to life, in stone. |
